-Don’t hold off until the last minute :-) If you’re interested, look through that selfie folder on your desktop, or your Instagram, or your Facebook, and submit a selfie that is especially meaningful to you. :-) Artists, writers, maybe consider submitting your selfie illustrations and writings.
-It’s not a numbers game, BUT: There really aren’t that many PoC entries. There are some, but not a lot. I wonder why that is, if it’s something about the wording of the Submissions Post that is alienating, or if there’s anything that I can do that could change this. I’m a PoC as well, and want to see racial diversity (PoC, WoC, MoC, TPoC, QPoC, TWoC TMoC, etc) represented in Selfie Zine too. Oy. So I don’t know. That’s where we are with that.
-No submission will be turned away (unless you are not 18 or older, or a submission is somehow hateful/discriminatory, or does not follow the guidelines…which… no one has done… So yeay!)
-At the end of this week, those that have put in submissions will receive an email confirming that I’ve gotten their submission. Again, no submission that follows the guidelines will be turned away! So if you’ve submitted something and do not get an email from me by Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:59pm (Eastern Standard Time) then please email again, or reach out via tumblr. It just means I didn’t receive it.
-**Oh, and right now I’m working on a way to at least get everyone who submitted to Selfie Zine at least one free physical copy.**
Many thanks to those who have submitted something so far. You all have GREAT selfies! :-)
Reminder that while the concept of virginity is technically a social construct, your sexual debut is still allowed to be special to you, and you are still allowed to wait and want to make it meaningful, and your self-perception is still allowed to change after you have sex. Just as long as you’re doing these things for yourself, and not because someone told you that you should.
